A well-kept Mercedes 200 Series 3.
The Series 3 cars were built between the years 1983-1985, which meant rectangular lights, more wood inside the cabin, and new material on the dashboard. Power steering became standard. The instrumentation was given an eco-dial. The right rearview mirror became electric but the left was still adjusted manually.
In 1985, Philipson, who was the general agent and importer for Mercedes at the time, ordered a large batch of base equipped 200 that was white with blue fabric upholstery and a 4-speed manual gearbox, the idea was to take customers from Volvo and Ford in the mid-market segment. The advertising slogan from Philipson was "Last chance to buy a Mercedes under SEK 100,000." This became a hit, and it turned out that the Mercedes 200 was the 5th best-selling car in Sweden in 1985
So when the first owner ordered this example, they had to order the car especially, as they wanted to have it painted in the beautiful color Thistle Green Metallic and with electric lifts on all four doors, automatic gearbox, tachometer, and headrest in the back seat. The headrest in the back seat was very exclusive for the time being and was extra, this became standard from w124 which came in 1986 for the Swedish market. Towbar and engine heater were installed after delivery by Philipson.
At purchase inspection in 2021, there was rust in the rocker panels, engine compartments, rear fenders, and doors. Everything is now restored by professionals, photo-documented, and newly painted in 2021. There is a slight color mismatch on the right rear fender and bottom edge on doors' right side is due to older paint on other paint panels.
