Basic Information & Background
We are pleased to present this item, the military vehicle turned urban favourite, the Mercedes 280 GE LWB. This is a former W460 model and is a firm favorite with everyone from off-roaders, estate owners and city dwellers alike! The Geländwagen has had a big boom in recent years and has become very attractive on the market.
This copy was purchased by the current owner in 2019 and has been used extensively since then. The seller, an enthusiastic car lover, submitted it to a veteran mechanic at a certified Mercedes dealer in Umeå for inspection. The owner wanted to make sure it was in top condition. During the winter of 2021, this mechanic was given free access to fix all the things that needed fixing. The veteran mechanic, with his extensive experience and knowledge of Mercedes, took on the car and gave it all the care it deserved. No detail work was left to chance, and every component was carefully scrutinized.
The seller has also modified it a bit into a "camper" with fold-down bed, fridge, storage, etc. It can also be restored without major problems. The car is sold in Sweden and has had 13 previous owners.
Condition
Exterior: As the pictures show, there are various minor marks on the paintwork and bumpers which should be on a Geländewagen, but overall it is in a very good working condition. Anti-rust treated in 2021 by Dinitrol Center in Umeå and there are no remarks on the glass.
There are minor blemishes on moldings and emblems. The newer 20" aluminum wheels are in good condition, as are the summer tires. Winter tires in almost new condition included. Please see our detailed pictures for more info and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Interior. The interior has recently been upgraded with a really nice Alcantara upholstery and is in very good condition. The interior has traces of use and age/patina but can be considered to be in fair and good condition with no major remarks on panels, buttons and dashboard.
AC is out of order (stopped working about 2 years ago) and a couple of diodes on buttons have stopped working. Converted to a camper with built-in fold-down bed, drawers for kitchen/counter and fridge and extra battery. As mentioned, these camper parts are easy to remove if you don't want to keep them and then you have a total of 9 seats!

Mechanically: Mechanically, the car is in good condition and the drivetrain works as it should. The admitted straight six has gone through properly, runs fine and has no noted leaks. The four-wheel drive and low gear/differentials work and all the oils in the driveline were changed by the owner himself at the last service in 2022 and only driven about 100 miles since then.
