1951 Jaguar XK 120
The Jaguar XK120 was the first sports car from Jaguar since 1939 and was highly anticipated, which was evident in the response. The car was a success and even today fine examples are highly sought after on the market and have broken record after record at the auction houses. The car was designed by Sir Williams Lyons and was considered one of the most beautiful cars ever when it arrived. In addition to the fantastic design, the car took several speed records and was competed with great success in racing.
This example left the factory on 21 January 1951 and was sold new by Henleys in London. Already in 1968, the car was exported to Sweden and has had 5 owners since then. In 1983 the car was registered in Sweden and completely renovated by the owner who kept the car for about 35 years. The engine in the car today is not the original engine, but the matching numbers engine block is included.
The current owner has owned the car since 2018 and has driven it continuously under his ownership and enjoyed every single fantastic mile, the car has, among other things, been seen during the King's Rally on Öland.
Condition
Exterior: Despite the fact that the car has been used extensively after the renovation, it has been well taken care of, which you can see from the condition. The chrome is still in very good condition, as is the paint, although there are a couple of minor marks after use and also noted are a couple of minor "cracks" in the paint (see pictures for more info). There is a small damage to the windshield but the chrome, moldings and emblems are unremarkable. The original wheels are in good condition, as are the fresh tires. For more info on exact condition, see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Interior: The stunning lipstick red interior is also in very nice condition with a really lovely patina and is said to have been refurbished by the previous owner in conjunction with the rest. The seats are in very good condition with very little wear, as is the steering wheel and dashboard. No remarks on the interior other than the clock not working. For more info on exact condition, see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Mechanical: Inspected in June 2019 without remarks and is now both tax and inspection exempt. As previously mentioned, the engine and gearbox have been completely renovated and inspected by the previous owner. Stable idle and has a lovely register. Original matching numbers engine included but according to info is in need of a renovation, would you now like to install it. There are no comments on the lighting or electrical system. There are traces of oil under the car when the car has been standing for a while. New 6v batteries were installed in 2023 and the brakes have also been renovated in 2023. The odometer shows approx 84000 km but cannot be guaranteed and is sold as "TMU" (True mileage unknown).
Summary
A stunningly beautiful and refurbished example of a classic icon that both runs and looks as it should! These models have had a very stable price picture and fine examples like this one always have, and will always be sought after on the market.
