Basic information and History
The Honda S2000 is built according to all the rules for a sports car, rear-wheel drive, two-seater and without a roof. The first version (AP1) began production as a model year in 1999 and was built until 2009 and has always had a devoted following. Now in recent years it has started to gain cult status and has had a very positive trend in value which is predicted to continue as there are fewer and fewer of these low-mileage and non-modified examples.
It is appreciated for its fine road holding which i.a. is rooted in a very advanced chassis and wheel suspensions but also the fine balance from an optimal 50/50 weight distribution, on the front and rear axle. The engine is also a chapter in itself. The four-cylinder two-liter engine long held the highest specific liter output without supercharging of any mass-produced engine in the automotive world, with its 120 hp per liter.
This is a Swedish-sold "AP1" example in top condition that the owner bought back in 2010, and before that only had 5 owners including car dealers. The unusual thing about this example, in addition to the mileage and condition, is that in addition to the OZ Racing wheels that are fitted, the car is completely original.
Condition
Exterior: The seller says that the car is in very good condition on the outside apart from a couple of minor marks that are documented in the album. Among other things, a small door opening on the left side, and a couple of small marks on the front. Glass parts are in good condition, but even if the windshield is intact, it has traces of use.
The car has a pair of nice OZ Racing rims with some edge scratches but a set of original wheels in top condition is included with the purchase (pictures in album). The tires on the OZ wheels have about 5-6mm left and the tires on the original wheels are bad and were included when the seller bought the wheels. The original convertible top has always been stored in the up-position and is also in top condition. The convertible top cover is included with the purchase.
For more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Interior: The interior upholstery appears to be in very good condition except for very little wear on the driver's seat. The red interior contrasts really well with the paint and the combination is just the icing on the cake. The dashboard is also free of cracks or signs of sun fading.
There is an aftermarket stereo in the car, but the original stereo is also included with the purchase. All gauges and other functions in the interior are in a very good and working condition. The low mileage reading is correct according to the history and is guaranteed by the seller. For more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Mechanics: The seller informs that the entire driveline including engine & gearbox works flawlessly and the car runs fantastically well on the road. Always starts, no misfires and looks as new as it can after a couple of thousand miles. Last workshop service was performed in 2011 at 42300 km and the car has only driven 4280 km since then. However, the owner himself has serviced the car the few years/occasions the car has been in traffic.
The car has never been driven in winter, which is also visible underneath and in the engine compartment, which looks almost brand new. The car is delivered newly inspected. Please see all the photos in the album and ask questions in the comment field.
Summary
If you want to own a future JDM classic with fantastic road holding and performance, then this is just the right example with its low miles and original condition, both of which are guaranteed to benefit the car's value development in the future.
