The Triple Lotus Collection
After five years as an engineer and a series of successful racing cars, Colin Chapman formed Lotus Engineering Ltd in 1952. The first model out was the Lotus 6, which was built in 100 copies, also very successful in racing. One of the most famous models is probably the Lotus 7, which is still built today in various replica versions. Focus has always been on light weight and considerable amount of grip, and over the years Lotus has won countless races against opponents with considerably larger engines. Bidders Highway is honoured to auctioning three different Lotus cars. We chose to name this small but spectacular collection "The Triple Lotus Collection".
This collection of Lotus icons includes cars from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. First up is the Lotus Esprit, a car everyone wanted after the world's most famous fictional agent, James Bond, drove one in 1977 in the movie "The spy who loved me". Five years later, in 1981, he once again drove a Q-built Lotus, but then an Esprit Turbo, in the film "For your eyes only".
This bright white 1982 Lotus Esprit Turbo comes in good used condition, ready to once again charm by passers with its pop-up lights, wedge-shaped iconic design and period correct combination of a white body with black details. The car has a long history in Sweden as it was imported back in 1991. In chronological order and in second place is this unusual 1992 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE High-Wing. The high-wing model was built in only 65 examples and is one of the more unusual Esprit models because of its low production numbers. The car comes with a low mileage of just under 52,500 km and is in a very nice condition. This is a perfect Lotus for those looking for something more unique from the model range.
Last but not least (maybe not least, but definitely smallest), is a Lotus Elise 111 from 2001 with barely 38,000km on the odometer. The car is spartan to say the least, but one of Lotus's most enjoyable creations since the Lotus 7. With a dry weight of approx. 700kg and 120hp, this caris built to be stylishly thrown around corners. The model is named after Romano Artiolis, then chairman of the board of Lotus and Bugatti, granddaughter Elisa. The car has received various upgrades and is today more than ready to get out on the roads and scare both fellow road users and passengers alike!
