Background & History
Special editions of street cars that are homologated for racing hold a particularly coveted place among many enthusiasts and collectors. This is a very well-preserved example of just such a model from Mercedes, namely a 190E Cosworth. Developed by Mercedes to give the erstwhile BMW E30 M3 a match around the racetracks, this is a considerably more rare model. The drivetrain is not found in any other model from Mercedes-Benz and breathes racing with a four-cylinder engine of 2.5 liters and 195 horsepower specially developed by Cosworth. It drives the rear wheels through a limited slip diff and a four-speed automatic transmission. This particular car was imported to Sweden from Germany in 1997 and has been in the current user's possession since 2019.
Equipment and Options
Externally, the car has the original 190E bodykit with inspiration from the DTM Racing series of the time. It is painted in Pearl Black Metallic and the interior is black half-leather with checkerboard inlays and contemporary carbon fiber details in the interior. Even the wheels are specially designed for the 190E Cosworth and are similar to those on the racing cars. Standard equipment includes electric sunroof, air conditioning, electrically heated front seats. The original stereo has been replaced with a Mercedes Audio 10 CD system.
Condition
Exterior: The seller states that there is no damage to the body and exterior. The car has been re-sprayed in its original color and the paintwork is in good condition. There are some signs of wear and minor scratches and imperfections including stone chips, a minor scratch on the passenger door and the rear wing. We refer to the pictures for more details.
Interior: Original interior in good condition showing some age-related wear especially on contact surfaces such as steering wheel, gear lever, door cards and driver's seat. We refer to the pictures for a more accurate description.
Mechanics: In terms of driving, the car functions exactly as it should. The seller states no noises or vibrations and the car is in very good mechanical condition. According to the seller, the AC needs to be topped up with gas and the digital clock under the stereo is out of order. The stereo is currently disconnected.

The car has a lot of documentation and comes with a clean Carfax, service record, receipts and data card from Mercedes-Benz Last service was performed in 2022 at 262,210 km where filters and oils were changed. There is also running maintenance from 2019, which includes oil changes, timing chain and tensioners, radiator and coolant, etc. Under the current owner, the windshield, insulation under the hood and emblem on the tailgate have also been replaced.
