2003 Jaguar XJ Super V8

citybromma
Stockholm
Background & information
Jaguar launched the updated XJ model with internal code X350 in the fall of 2002. The biggest difference to the outgoing model X308 at the time was that the new XJ was built entirely in aluminum and had a self-supporting body. This meant a weight saving of a whopping 200 kg compared to the previous model. Instead of riveting the body panels together, Jaguar chose to join the body with glue. By gluing the body, you got a more rigid body and could keep the weight down. The XJ model was also lighter than the German competitors where, for example, an Audi A8 was a full 200 kg heavier. The new X350 body grew by barely a decimeter in both length, width and height, which contributed to better space inside the cabin. Luggage grew by 25% thanks to the relocation of the fuel tank. Ride comfort was improved thanks to the air suspension.

This example is a Swedish-sold Jaguar in the top version called XJ Super V8. The model shares the same engine from the sportier XJR model. The machine is a supercharged V8 of 4.2L with a power output of 396HP and 541 nm which meant 0-100 kph in 5.3 seconds. The Super V8 had softer suspension and was slightly more elegant in its appearance compared to the sportier XJR model. This car has had 2 actual users since new when the last user owned the car between 2005 to 2021 and previous users 2003-2005.

Condition

Exterior: Overall good condition on the outside, the only thing that can really be commented on is that one of the headlight glass on the left side has become a bit dull over time.

Interior: very good condition considering the mileage and age, complete and nice interior which is complete with all functions tested and in good condition.

Mechanical: Perfect condition starts and runs as it should, no noises or the like but a really nice car.

Summary
A future classic if it isn't already? In our opinion, it is among the more beautiful sedans that came into production in the 2000s. There is something special about English cars, here it breathes luxury right through the entire car, from the extended leather to the elaborate wooden panels.
