1954 Jaguar Mark VII Saloon
The Jaguar Mark VII was the updated successor to the popular Mark V model and was highly anticipated which was evident in the response. The car was a success and even today fine examples are highly sought after on the market. The car's design language was very similar to the XK 120 model, from which it also got its 3.4L engine. In addition to the fantastic design, the car took several speed records and could do over 100 mph (about 160 km/h), which was very impressive for the time.
This specimen is undoubtedly one of the finest we have ever seen with an incredibly fine history. The car was already bought in 1958 by the seller's mother from the first owner and it was used as the large family car and has been used both in everyday traffic but also on long road trips around Europe. The car has been featured in "Jaguar Times" no. 196 where it was told about everything it had been involved in which the seller sends with a copy of.
The car was completely renovated in the early 2000s to a fantastically fine original condition that the car is still in today. The car was then taken down to the smallest detail and what was broken was repaired or replaced.
Condition
Exterior: Although the car has been used after the renovation, it has been well taken care of, which you can see from the condition. The chrome is in very good condition with some patina, as is the paint which presents itself very well although there are a couple of minor marks from use. Noted is a small dent under the left sill and a small one on the bumper (see pictures for more info). Glass parts are in good condition apart from some general blasting/minor stone chips on the windshield, the original wheels are in very good condition, as are the fresh tires with approx. 6mm tread depth. For more info on exact condition, see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Interior: The stunning lipstick red interior is also in very nice condition with a really lovely patina. The seats are in very good condition with very little wear, as are the steering wheel and dashboard which only have a little age-related wear. The driver's seat upholstery has been replaced, as has the entire boot to match the interior. There are no functional notes on the interior apart from the fact that the lever on one of the ventilation flaps by the floor has come off. For more info on exact condition, see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Mechanical: Inspected in July 2014 without remarks and is now both tax and inspection exempt. Engine is previously mentioned fully renovated and inspected and is in very good mechanical condition. Stable idle and has a lovely register. There are no comments on lighting or the upgraded 12V electrical system. There are no leaks noted and the last service was carried out in 2023-09 by Union Jack Motors in Täby. It also includes a lot of past history. The mileage is about 40000 km but has turned over and is believed to be about 144000 km.
Summary
A stunningly beautiful and refurbished example of a classic icon that both runs and looks as it should! These models have had a very stable price picture and fine examples like this one always have, and will always be sought after on the market.
