Basic Information & Background
The Jaguar E-type is one of the car world's true style icons and many consider the model to be one of the world's most beautiful cars ever made. This car has the 4.2 liter straight six “7D” engine from the MK X driving the rear wheels via the 4 speed manual gearbox. .
When the model was launched, it was received with applause and every celebrity in the world wanted one. Amazing performance, beautiful design and also with a solid racing history.
This is a USA model in very good used condition and a lot of documented history. It came to Sweden as early as 1989 and has been renovated over the years and used extensively. Fine specimens like this really don't grow on trees and it really is what you would call a true "driver".
Condition
Exterior: The car is in a very nice and stainless condition. According to information from the previous owner, a body renovation was done in 1989 (there are a couple of pictures in the album) but it was noticed that the work with the sill boxes was under all criticism. As a result, a new body renovation was done in 2018/2019 and large parts of the sill boxes were replaced and the car was painted again in the same color as before. The result was very satisfactory and the car is, as mentioned, rust-free and in good condition with the only real remark being a visible weld of approx. 4 cm on an inner front fender, but it is only visible when you open the bonnet and is nothing that bothers you. The windshield has minor scratches from the wipers and there are no marks on the moldings, chrome or emblems. Even the stylish and contemporary original wheels are in very good condition! Please see our detailed pictures for more info and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Interior: The interior is also in good used condition but some marks and minor holes in the leather. The dashboard and other parts of the interior are in good condition with no major complaints and the car can be used and enjoyed just as it is for many years to come. The roof has also been replaced and is tight and fine without any complaints. Please see our detailed pictures for more info and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Mechanically: The seller says that the car is mechanically in very good condition and the engine/box runs fantastically well. Minor leakage is noted, but as the seller describes: "It's a Jaguar, these cars mark territory they say and it's been that way for the entire time I've owned it." The engine in the car is not the original engine, already in 1997 an engine change was carried out by Johan Sohlman in Virserum to a 7D which comes from a MK X 4.2. As the car is originally a US car, it was only equipped with two Stromberg carburetors. However, these had done their job and now there is a new intake pipe and triple Weber carburettor. The intake noise when applying the gas sounds fantastic and gives shivers. The car also got a new starter motor in 2015, head gasket in 2020 and in connection with that a manifold, spark plugs, oil, oil pressure sensor, new vacuum hoses and a new radiator fan were changed. With the exception of the electrical wires for the headlights, all electrical wires in the car were changed in 2020. New wires for the headlights are available and included with the purchase. In 2020, the gas tank, springs and shock absorbers were also changed.
The gearbox is said to have been renovated at the same time as the engine change.. The gearbox is four-speed and works perfectly. The gear ratio on the rear axle is 3.54:1, which according to info is the highest available for the model. Last service was performed by Flemming Madsen and there is no previous service record. The car was last inspected in 2019 without any complaints. Please see our detailed pictures for more info and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Summary
A true celebrity who will always be considered one of the automotive world's most beautiful creations of all time. Since the coveted Series 1 cars have increased so much in price, the demand for these Series II cars has increased significantly and there are good reasons to invest in it today. This is today very classic for the money and fine refurbished specimens do not grow on trees.
