1965 Ford Mustang 289 Cabriolet
The Ford Mustang is undoubtedly a well-known name to most people, the world's first "pony car" and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. The first generation was available in a variety of designs, coupé, fastback and cabriolet, among others. and could be supplied with a plethora of different engines. This generation is also one of the most sought after on the market thanks to its timeless design but also fine road characteristics.
This specimen is a 1965 model with the standard V8 of 289ci (4.7l) and came to Sweden in 2021 from the USA. The seller is the second owner in Sweden and has driven it very sparingly over the years and it has always been in a warm garage when not in use.
It is a truly classic Mustang Cab in an unusual and delicious finish in Ivy Green / Ivy Gold and matching beige convertible top. An extensive and documented body renovation has previously been carried out, which can be seen in the car's fine condition. The car has an electrically folding sunroof and is otherwise standard equipped. The condition is very good exterior, interior and sunroof. The green paintwork is in the original color "Ivy Green" and the engine is a V8 of 283 cui with 200 horsepower (C code).
Condition
Exterior: The seller says that the car is in fantastically good condition on the outside apart from a couple of minor marks that are documented in the album. The car has undergone a major renovation where most of the sheet metal parts were replaced and repainted in the original color (Ivy Green) sometime before it came to Sweden and is perceived as professionally done work and is still in very good condition. Among other things noted is a mark on the right front screen. Glass parts, emblems and chrome are in very good condition.
The roof is in very nice and fully functional condition and has always been stored with the roof up and is free of damage, cracks or marks apart from the attachment/zipper to the rear window. For more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Interior: The really nice interior upholstery is, as you can see, in super fine condition and without any complaints. The light green interior contrasts really well with the paint and the combination is just the icing on the cake. The instrument panel is free of cracks or major signs of sun fading. The controls are apparently original controls in fine condition with a little patina. All gauges and other functions in the interior are in a good and working condition. Meter setting cannot be guaranteed. For more info on exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Mechanics: The seller informs that the entire drivetrain including engine (289ci C-Code), gearbox and rear axle works great and runs great on the road. As can be seen, the engine has been well maintained and had many parts replaced over the years. Last service was performed by Roslagen's LBS in 2021 and service book is not available. The car runs straight and fine on the road and all brakes are in good condition. The original wheels are very nice and the tires have about 6mm of tread left. A very easy-to-drive and nice car! Inspection exempt and tax exempt. Please see all the photos in the album.
Summary
A really popular classic in a very nice condition. It's a really beautiful American pony car that works just as well on curvy country roads as it does on a cruise around town and attracts attention wherever you go! Refurbished specimens in unique colors like this do not grow on trees and if you are looking for a "turn-key" American convertible for the coming season, this is a fantastic opportunity.
