1975 Ford Escort MARK II
The Ford Escort MK2 is an icon in the car world, both as a racing car where it has competed successfully in various rally championships, but also as a passenger car in the compact class. The Escort MK2 is just as the name tells the second generation of the popular model and is a sought after model for building a race car. This is a Swedish-sold vehicle with only 2 owners since new, of which the first owned it from 1975 - 2022 and would be a perfect starting point for any renovation / race build. The odometer shows only 51000km, which according to info from the owner should be correct, but can not be confirmed by us.
Equipment
The car is an "L" model, which is a standard-equipped 2-door variant that was also the best seller in the model range. Equipped with a tan fabric upholstery with vinyl backs/sides as well as a heating system.
Condition
Exterior: An untouched body with original paint in good condition with some rust in the lower part of the body. No continuous rust but there is a hint of rust bubbles and exterior blemishes. There is a crack in the windscreen on the passenger side. The original wheels are in good condition with almost new tires fitted. The chrome details present themselves very well and are in very good condition for the age.
Interior. Well presented interior in tan fabric and sides and back upholstered in vinyl. Original dashboard without holes for any aftermarket modern stereo. There is some flaking of paint on a panel and a few spots but overall can be considered as good condition.
Mechanically. The car runs well in the engine / gearbox and feels stable on the road. Almost new tires are mounted on the original rims and despite the lack of a service book, it is perceived that it has been well maintained during the years by the first owner. There are no known faults in the driveline.
Service history
There is unfortunately no service history. Tax and inspection exempt.
Summary
The MK2 is already a coveted classic and is unusual to find one in this condition. A perfect starting point for future competition car or to build a rally replica from it!
