Basic information and history
An award-winning 1938 Dodge Six Convertible Coupé in beautiful condition for its age, with long known history and charming mother-in-law hatch. This copy was imported by the Philipssons themselves via a ship that was unloaded in the port of Gävle. The car was then placed in Philipsson's display window. The specimen is said to be the only one in Europe! The owner has a very charming photo where Philipsson himself and a colleague are standing outside the premises and the car is obviously visible in the background. A total of 700 examples of the model were built and all were sold very quickly, a clear success, simply put! Movie star Clark Gable, also known as "The King of Hollywood", never managed to place an order for one of the 700 produced, and with the help of his star status, Dodge built another example. This copy is number 424. The car has won a total of 12 trophies over the years for the finest car! The current owner has owned the car for 22 years back in time and has enjoyed the car together with his wife at, among other things, several rallies over the years.
- Historically unique, Domestically sold 1938 Dodge Six Convertible Coupé in very fine condition
- For sale by a highly enthusiastic owner who now wishes to focus on motorcycle trips with friends
- A huge amount of history comes with the car
This Dodge Six is equipped with an absolutely inexhaustible side valve six of 3.6 liters of approx. 85 hp.
Condition
The car comes in very good condition for its age and has been more than well looked after by its owners over the 22 years of its ownership. The bright red paintwork has a nice luster and is free of major damage, scratches and other conspicuous imperfections. There is, of course, minor wear and tear such as small stone chips, some of which have been repaired, as well as some small scratches, various marks, an uneven surface on one of the front fenders and some small repairs. The lantern glass all around is in very good condition. Chrome details and moldings are in fine condition with light patina from years gone by.
The interior is also in a good condition considering the age of the car. There is wear and tear on the interior, but the overall impression is very good. The material on the seats is undamaged. Steering wheel, instrument panel, buttons and controls have a patina from use. The door sides are in good condition.
Under the hood it looks nice. New six-volt battery has been ordered and will be installed before delivery. The car has been standing this year as the owner instead spent his time riding a motorcycle. Oil is of course changed regularly and the oil that is in the engine today is of course new. Brakes work as they should.
Service history
Well cared for copy that has been taken care of over the years. There is plenty of documentation from all the years of ownership.
Summary
This unique example in Europe is now looking for a new enthusiastic owner. The current owner has decided to dispose of his darling, despite all the great memories together, in favor of motorcycle trips and the fact that age has also started to take its toll. This example of history is perfect for those who appreciate cars with a long known history and design elements that clearly show a heyday.
