2001 Porsche 911 Turbo RUF RT12
Basic Information and History
Modified Porsche 996 911 Turbo "RUF RT12" Owned by 9 enthusiasts in Sweden. Originally from 2001, the car was upgraded to RT12 specification at RUF Automobil GmbH between 2005 and 2006. The engine underwent extensive upgrades with an increased displacement to 3.8 liters. Improvements included modified cylinder heads, titanium connecting rods, an enhanced fuel and intake system, new manifolds, larger turbochargers, and larger intercoolers. These modifications give the car a range more akin to a GT3 and it truly excels at higher revs. RUF claimed an output of 650 hp, but it actually delivers close to 700 hp, with additional enhancements made by the current owner.
The body was simultaneously upgraded with RUF’s special integrated roll cage, which is largely concealed within the Alcantara-trimmed interior. Air intakes for the intercoolers were relocated to improve cooling. Other RUF details such as the distinctive mirrors, badges, steering wheel, and interior elements were installed, giving the car a cohesive and sleek appearance.
In recent years, the car has been further developed by Mtech Workshop AB, together with Turbocenter and Ferrita. These modifications include:
- SQS sequential shifting system with gear indicator integrated into the tachometer
- Muffler with central outlet
- Öhlins Road and Track dampers
- Girodisc brake discs with Pagid RS29 pads
- Further modified turbo system with custom intake pipes, larger fuel pump and injectors
- The gearbox was refurbished in winter 2023/2024 with new bearings, synchronizer rings, and an updated third gear, making it now in perfect condition.
