1968 Volkswagen Beach Buggy
Information and History
Swedish-sold Volkswagen Beach Buggy from 1968 with only 38,080 km on the odometer. A total of 17 owners.
This Beach Buggy is one of the most popular kit cars in Sweden. It is based on a shortened chassis from an air-cooled Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle) or a tube construction, with a fiberglass body that gives it its unique appearance. The engine has been upgraded to a reliable 1600 cc, providing the car with better performance and driving pleasure.
Condition
The body is in good condition, with a paint that seems to be a so-called "garage paint." It features 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne taillights, Appliance wheels. There are no dents or serious scratches on the body. According to the seller, the car is rust-free. The paint has minor chips in some places, but these are barely noticeable at first glance. Under these chips, a blue color can be seen.
The front windshield is in good condition, and the headlights, including the chrome details, are very nice. The chrome on the taillights is somewhat pitted, which is expected given the car's age. The wheels have minor surface rust, and the tires are mainly for show but are drivable. At the front, the car has older diagonal tires with visible dry cracks, while the rear tires are older Firestone Dragster slicks.
The interior and seats are in good condition. The engine has recently been replaced with a 1600 engine, and the drivetrain and transmission are in good condition. The brakes have recently been serviced with new brake lines and a new master cylinder, making the brakes function well. The car has disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
Service History
The current owner performed an oil change and replaced the brake fluid when the brakes were serviced. This work was completed in July 2024. The last inspection was carried out on July 6, 2018; unfortunately, the inspection report is not available.
Summary
A Swedish-sold Volkswagen Beach Buggy from 1968 that is both fun to drive and guaranteed to attract attention. Perfect for someone who wants to own an iconic and well-preserved classic!
