1965 Ford Mustang
Basic Information and History
1965 Ford Mustang 289 V8 – Classic California Car
Now you have the chance to own a true icon, a beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang imported from the USA to Sweden in 2016. The car has only had one owner here in Sweden, and was previously a well-maintained California car, benefiting from the state's fantastic climate for preserving classic cars.
The last owner in the USA, a passionate car enthusiast, carried out a hobby restoration to keep the Mustang in good condition as a "driver." This means that it hasn't undergone a full professional restoration, but it still looks great and is in drivable condition. The car gives a nice visual impression and is an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy it immediately, or develop it further into their dream project.
Under the hood, you'll find a powerful 289 V8 engine that runs smoothly, combined with a C4 automatic transmission that shifts softly and correctly. This classic delivers the true muscle car feeling that the Ford Mustang is known for.
This is a car that not only offers style and history but also the driving pleasure that only a true American V8 can provide. Perfect for those who appreciate timeless cars with character!
Equipment and Options
The car is equipped with AC, though the compressor is missing, but the interior unit with the fan is in place. It also has a "Pony" interior, giving it a classic and stylish appearance.
Condition
The car gives an overall good impression with no dents or rust. The paint job is not professionally done, typical of what often comes from the USA. However, there is a small dent at the rear of the left rear fender and a minor damage in the same area. During my ownership, the hood was replaced after it flew up while driving. According to the previous owner, there should be no rust on the body, but there are bubbles on the right front fender. These bubbles are due to heat damage from a battery charger, not rust. The bumpers are new, installed by the previous owner, and several emblems have also been replaced.
The wheel covers have some curb rash. The tires are in decent condition, though slightly worn on the front due to needing a wheel alignment. The interior is in fair condition, but it may be a good idea to replace the driver's side door panel as the handle is worn. The backrest of the rear seat needs new fasteners or clips, as do the back panels of the front seats. The headliner sags slightly but is still acceptable in its current condition. The steering wheel is somewhat worn, and the AC compressor is missing.
There is a stereo with the option to stream from your phone, a small active subwoofer in the trunk, and 6x9 speakers on the rear shelf. The engine is in good condition with a newly serviced carburetor, adjusted ignition, and valves. It's about time for an oil and filter change. The transmission and drivetrain work as they should. The brakes function, but should be checked in the future. During my ownership, the brakes have only had a minor service five years ago, but the car has only been driven about 500 km per year since then.
Service History
Oil and filter were changed a year ago, and the car has driven about 500 km since then. The spark plugs need replacing.
There are no inspection records, but the car was inspected in 2016 and is now approved for life.
Summary
An iconic Ford Mustang in good condition, but it needs a little love to reach its full potential. This classic is a perfect starting point for someone who wants to give it a new life and put their personal touch on a timeless car model. The engine runs smoothly, and the body is solid, but with a few aesthetic adjustments and some mechanical attention, this Mustang will soon be ready for the road again – a reliable and stylish companion for future adventures. Give it the chance to continue its journey and become a part of your car collection.
