1964 Dodge Polara 500
Basic Information and History
1964 Dodge Polara 500
This impressive car was imported from Texas, USA, to Sweden in 2017. The current owner is the third in Sweden, where the first owner renovated several Mopar vehicles, including this Polara. After the renovation, the car has not been driven many miles; the current owner has only driven it approximately 1,000 km.
This is an authentic Street Wedge car, and both the Car Production Broadcast (Build Sheet) and fendertag have been preserved. The entire renovation was carried out with care in Sweden, and the car is in excellent condition. This is a unique opportunity for anyone looking for a well-maintained and classic muscle car of the highest quality!
Equipment and Options
The original Car Production Broadcast from 1964, also known as the build sheet, is available. This document details how the car was equipped from the factory.
Condition
The body is in very good condition after renovation and repainting in Sweden. According to the seller, there are no dents or major scratches. Partially new chrome trim has been installed, and there is no rust according to the seller. The paint is in good condition, with only a few minor damages such as stone chips, which is natural since the car has been used. The metal was sanded down before the new paint job. All windows are in good condition, and most of the chrome trim is either new or in very good condition. The wheels are undamaged, and the tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A – front 225/70/15 and rear 275/60/15. These are mounted on widened steel wheels with original center caps. The tread depth is 9 mm in the front and 7 mm in the back.
The interior is new, including carpets and headliner, which are also in perfect condition without damage. The original steering wheel has been retained, although it is somewhat worn. The controls are in good condition.
The engine is a rebuilt 512 (based on a 440) with approximately 550 hp, designed to mimic a 426 Ramcharger. It is equipped with a stroker kit from 440 Source in the USA, as well as Stealth aluminum heads from the same company. The engine is built to be reliable and works excellently for cruising. The ignition system is digital, with an MSD 6AL and an MSD Pro-Billet 8546 distributor. A 2.5” TTi exhaust system with Dynamax mufflers provides a nice V8 rumble. All engine and machine work has been carried out by Gisslars Automobil in Rättvik.
The transmission is a rebuilt 727 with components from A&A Transmissions in the USA. It has a 10-inch converter with a stall speed of 2600 rpm. Disc brakes in the front and drums in the back. The brakes would need to be supplemented with a vacuum pump or similar, as the engine does not generate enough vacuum for the booster. A downside is that there is a missing cable between the control for the heat to the valve on the heating unit. There is also a small oil leak from the rear main seal of the engine, which is quite common according to the current owner.
Service History
Recently changed engine oil and oil filter as well as transmission oil.
Last inspected on July 5, 2017.
