1963 Jaguar Mark II 3.8 Litre
Basic Information and History
Jaguar Mark II 3.8 – A Classic Beauty sold new in Sweden.
This Jaguar Mark II 3.8 from 1963 is a true example of classic British elegance. The car has had a total of 13 owners over the years. The current owner has had it since 1990, after his best friend owned it throughout the 1980s. During these years, the car has been meticulously cared for and stored indoors to preserve its beauty and integrity.
With its 3.8-liter engine—the largest and most powerful engine available for the Mark II—this Jaguar offers a driving experience few other classic cars can match. A timeless beauty that combines style and performance in the best possible way.
Equipment and Accessories
Included with the car is an extensive collection of Jaguar and classic motoring magazines from 1990 to 2010, along with manuals, spare parts, and more.
Condition
The car is in very good condition, with an almost rust-free body. There is only some minor surface rust on one of the rear fenders, but these are replaceable, and two new rust-free rear fenders are included. The bodywork has no serious scratches or dents, and the paint is in excellent condition. In the 1990s, the car was repainted, and the glass, chrome details, trim, and light covers are in good condition. The wheels are also free from damage. The summer tires have a tread depth of 4-5 mm.
The interior is in very fine condition, particularly the walnut trim. The leather upholstery has aged well, with the seats showing no damage. The instrument panel and headliner are also in good condition. While the original radio is missing, all electrical equipment is functional.
The engine is in good condition following a complete overhaul and service this past spring. This included replacing the water pump, electric fuel pump, oil and filters, as well as adjusting the carburetors. All ignition components were replaced, and a new clutch cylinder was installed. The brake calipers were refurbished, and new brake pads and a master cylinder were installed.
However, there is a minor issue with the overdrive, which does not engage when the engine is cold. After about 30 minutes to an hour, it works as it should.
Service History
In spring 2024, a comprehensive service was performed (details mentioned above). Receipts for all parts and work from the mechanics are available. Some older documentation is stored in folders, though it is incomplete after 2005. Final inspection and assessment were completed in May 2024.
