1934 CADILLAC 355 D IMPERIAL

melker3
Västerbotten

Basic Information and History

This 1934 Cadillac 355D Imperial is a masterpiece in both design and history, with an impressive background. The car was originally ordered by the Broström shipping company and owned by none other than Anna-Ida Broström, heir to one of Sweden’s most significant shipping families. During her ownership, the car became a well-known sight on the streets of Gothenburg and was actively used up until the 1950s. After that, the car changed hands several times before it ended up in a sad state in a scrapyard.

When the current owner took over, there was little left of its former glory. However, after an extensive and meticulous full restoration from 2006 to 2009, the car has now been restored to its original condition. Every detail, from the engine to the smallest chrome parts, has been carefully restored to honor this classic icon. The Cadillac represents an era when these cars symbolized power and exclusivity and were driven exclusively by hired chauffeurs.

The car is equipped with a partition window between the driver’s seat and the rear passenger compartment to provide a private and luxurious experience for the passengers in the back. The front seats are upholstered in elegant leather, reflecting the driver’s workspace, while the spacious rear seat and discreet extra seats are carefully upholstered in soft fabric for maximum comfort. The Cadillac’s luxurious interior, combined with its impressive exterior lines, makes it a unique collector’s item and an admirable piece of Swedish automotive history.

Condition

The bodywork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition; there are no dents or deep scratches, and no rust according to the seller. The car has recently been repainted and has only been driven approximately 1,000 km since, with no scratches on the glass all around. Chrome details, trims, and lamp lenses are in very good condition, and the wheels are undamaged. The tires look good but are a few years old.

The interior is in very good condition – the seats are undamaged, the headliner is nice, and the steering wheel, controls, and buttons are well-preserved. The engine is described as functioning well, as is the gearbox. The brakes are also in good condition.

Service History

The car has been well-maintained by the current owner and has been regularly serviced and maintained. There are no official records, except those from AB Svensk Bilprovning. Due to the car’s age, there is no service book. The current owner has handled all the service and maintenance personally. The last approved inspection was on May 13, 2009.
