1973 Jaguar E-Type V12
Basic history and information
Few cars are as iconic as the Jaguar E-Type! The concept of lightweight construction, modern parts and a decent engine gave performance that was unheard of in comparison to the car's starting price. The top speed was 240 km/h already in 1961. In addition to its fantastic performance, you also got a design that has gone down in world history as one of the absolute best. There is a story that tells that Enzo Ferrari himself on the car's debut day, March 15, 1961, said that it is one of the most beautiful cars in the world. The story cannot be confirmed, but it does not feel completely unbelievable that he would have uttered those words.
This 1973 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupé Series III was sold new in England and imported to Sweden in 2020 from the Netherlands. The vehicle has had 5 previous owners. The odometer reading is currently 135.000 km and can be guaranteed. The car received an extensive overhaul 5 years ago where the engine, body and details were reviewed. The entire overhaul is well documented and of course comes with the vehicle. There are some parts that come with the sale, including a set of 5 original rims, original steering wheel and gear knob, full set of original interior mats, ie door panels, gimbal, rear seat, etc. The green interior is unusual and has a good value in itself. In addition, it comes with a lot of details, a service manual and some other goodies, according to the current owner.
The car comes with the fantastic 5.3-liter V12 equipped with four Zenith carburettors and approx. 276hp/412nm connected to a 3-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 goes in under 7 seconds and top speed, for those who dare, is approx. 240km/h.
Equipment and options
Unlike the previous E-type, the Series III comes with, among other things, better brakes and power steering. This Series III also comes, as previously mentioned, with the automatic transmission as an option. There is also a simpler stereo with speakers installed.
Condition
As previously mentioned, the car was inspected 5 years ago and the condition is perceived to be very good! According to the current owner, there is a very small dent on the right front fender, under the bumper, i.e. barely visible to the eye. The car is of course stainless and glass parts are in good condition. The paintwork is described as having small peeling paint, including at the tailgate, but nothing that has gone through all the way down to the sheet metal. During the overhaul, some parts received new paint, but then with enormous attention to detail for colour matching and with extremely good results. There are no remarks on chrome, mouldings or emblems. The fitted spoke rims come with whitewall tires with approx. 8mm pattern depth remaining.
The interior comes in fine condition for its age and with some hints of patina. Current owner advises that there is normal wear given age, but no cracks in the leather. Dashboard and panel are in good condition. The noble steering wheel, gearbox knob and choke handle have been replaced. The inner roof looks fine for its age and fits as it should. The green unusual interior has held up well with only minor marks and normal wear.
Engine described by current owner purring like a Jaguar shell and being in very good condition! The engine was also checked during the inspection and comes without leaks or other remarks.
Feel free to look through all the photos of the car to form an idea of the condition. If you have questions about the item, these can be asked in the comment section.
Service history
The car received a service in autumn 2021 and in June 2022. This was then carried out by Tegbrings Bil & Motor in Borås. Engine and gearbox oil were changed last spring. Wheels and brake pads are described as being in good condition. Last inspection was carried out on 2020-11-06.
Summary
An absolute icon on the roads in the right color combination and with an engine like no other. This 2+2 Grand Tourer is perfect with its engine, automatic transmission and its excellent overall condition!
