1984 Volkswagen Golf GTI Special
Basic information and History
- Domestically sold 1984 Volkswagen Golf GTI Special
- Same owner for 23 years
- 1.8-litre, 112hp/150nm with 5-speed gearbox at 990kg
The first Golf GTI was released in 1976 and set the standard for what we today call a GTI car, or Hot Hatch in English. The recipe is a small, relatively cheap car with enough performance to impress friends. Before the Golf GTI was presented, other manufacturers tried the recipe, including the 1967 Simca 1100 Ti or the 1971 Autobianchi A112 Abarth, but without the same success as Volkswagen.
Equipment and Options
- Tachometer
- Larger front spoiler
- Sports seats with unique fabric
- Anti-roll bars both front and rear
- AM/FM stereo with cassette player
Condition
The interior of the car is in relatively good condition. The sports seats come with less wear. The driver's seat has damage to the fabric on the side supports, but the passenger seat looks fine. Back seat as well. The door sides are in a good condition. The instrument panel and controls have also managed well, especially since the instrument panel on cars that have been parked for a large part of their lives outside usually has a cracked instrument panel.
Engine and gearbox work as intended, however the clutch cable is binding according to the current owner. Lubrication may be enough for it to release. With 2,000 miles in 23 years, the car has always been used and has not stood still for any length of time. It has also been serviced regularly.
Feel free to look through our photos of the car to form an idea of the condition.
