Basic information and History

American muscle from the luxury segment, Oldsmobile 88 Dynamic Celebrity sedan from 1966. The model Oldsmobile 88, today Eighty Eight, was produced from 1949 until 1999 when the last model was rolled out. The model was Oldsmobile's best source of income and in the 50s with its small lightweight bodies and modern engines was faster than the competition.

This sixth-generation 4-door model comes with the 7-liter (425cui) "Super Rocket V8" with approx. 310hp/610nm connected to a 3-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The car was brought to Sweden in 2021 from Virgina, USA, by a company. The vehicle was a barn find and has had one Swedish owner since. Current owner has original purchase contract in his possession as well as some notes and receipts from the first two owners.

Condition

The condition is described by the seller as a good used condition and the vehicle should not have been refurbished. The paintwork is in good condition, but there is, among other things, minor surface rust, minor paint scratches and flaking and some cracks on the bodywork. There is rust in the trunk. The windshield has a matte part according to the seller. Chrome and moldings are in normal condition, but there are, among other things, discoloration on the chrome. Rear bumper has surface rust. The right side at the back has received damage in the form of a larger dent. but this will be fixed by insurance companies, according to the seller. Pattern depth on the tires is measured at approx. 7 mm. There are no remarks on the headlights, but a chrome part is missing around one headlight.

The interior of the vehicle appears to be in normal condition for its age and the seller advises that the seats have some wear, including a cigarette burn. There is normal wear in the form of stains and marks but overall, the interior looks good. The dashboard is in good condition and so is the inner roofing. Controls and buttons appear to have held up well over the years. Door sides are slightly flamed and have some slack at the edges. A/C is not working. Moldings in the doors are worn and should be replaced. The handle on one of the rear doors has come loose from its bolt and the antenna is missing from the car.

Mechanically, the seller describes that the car as running well, and that the gearbox has been refurbished by a specialist through the company that imported the car. Manifold on the driver's side is broken and there is some leakage on the valve cover. Front suspension adjustment was carried out in July 2023. The seller informs that the engine runs well but needs to be revved in between. At longer idling, the engine slows down. What is new and changed on the engine is, fuel pump, switch, ignition cables and spark plugs. When purchased, a new exhaust system with silencer, new foot switch, original rims with tires, temperature sensor, cooling fan and valve cover gaskets are included.

The last service was carried out by the owner himself last spring. Previous service records are unfortunately not available.
