Basic information and background
The Ford Model A, produced by the Ford Motor Company, was a popular car produced from 1927 to 1931. It was the successor to the legendary Ford Model T and was available in a variety of body styles, including two-door and four-door. -sedans, pickups, coupes and even station wagons.

Engine: The Model A was powered by a 3.3-liter (201 cu in) four-cylinder engine, producing approximately 40 horsepower. It was a significant improvement over the Model T's engine, offering better performance and reliability.

Transmission: The Model A had a three-speed manual transmission, which was a departure from the Model T's earlier transmission system. The transmission was synchronized on the top two gears, allowing for smoother shifting.

Styling: The Model A featured a more modern and elegant design compared to its predecessor. It had a more streamlined appearance with a longer hood, a sloping windshield and a more pronounced grille. The body was usually made of steel, although some early models had bodies constructed of wood.

Suspension: The Model A had a conventional suspension setup with a solid front axle and semi-elliptic leaf springs front and rear. This gave a relatively smooth ride for the time.

Brakes: Unlike the Model T, the Model A had mechanical brakes on all four wheels, greatly improving stopping power and safety.

Production numbers: Over its entire production run, Ford produced approximately 4.8 million Model A cars.
