1997 Dodge Viper GTS
There are few car models as infamous yet recognized as the Dodge Viper. A hard and brutal beast with one of the last V10 engines in the world put in a production car. When the first generation arrived in 1991, it had a design like no other and right up until 2017, it made headlines around the world. The recipe was simple, a practical supercar with a very raw and analog driving feel, world-leading performance, manual gearbox, and the world's largest mass-produced engine in terms of volume. The engine went from 8.0L in Gen 1 all the way up to 8.4L in Gen 5.
This GTS is without a doubt one of the most desirable and sought-after models and as production of the Viper has ended it is predicted to have very good value development in the future.
This example was imported to Sweden already in 2007 from the USA with a clean Carfax and has only had 2 recognized car collectors as owners since then.
One of the points that made the car "notorious" was the handling that required experienced drivers to go fast, but just like this one, the chassis was often upgraded with a coil-over kit that did wonders for the handling but without compromising the comfort that was in the car.
Condition
Exterior: The original red paint is in good condition, especially for a 26-year-old car, but with a couple of stone chips and minor scratches, including on the bottom edge of the front. The foiled strips also have a couple of minor marks at the front and back ends. The polished and forged CCW rims are in very good condition with the only remark being a minor scratch on the lip of the vb rim. For more info on the condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Interior: The car is in a good condition inside and all gauges and functions work without problems. The leather seats are in good condition with some minor marks on the left side bolster, the door sills, and some aging of some plastic panels. For more info on the exact condition see our detailed photos in the album and feel free to ask questions in the comment field!
Mechanics: The car runs very well in both the engine and gearbox and feels as fast as when it was new. All owners have been real enthusiasts and have taken good care of the car with the replacement of various wear parts and service. Inspected without remarks August 2022 with a new radiator installed in 2022. Please see all pictures in the album for more info!
Summary
Despite having "only" 456hp, this poisonous snake can measure up very well to significantly more expensive competitors, and it rewards its driver with an incredible amount of pleasure - and adrenaline. A true sports car that works fantastically well for long road trips or a track day at your favorite track. Since the model ceased production in 2017, all generations have increased in value and are predicted to continue in the coming years, so now is a fantastic opportunity to buy a future investment that can withstand use!
