Basic information and History
This is a Corvette C4 that can be considered a project car with great potential, perhaps as a starting point for a professional complete renovation or for a hobbyist who wants an affordable weekend warrior!
When the Corvette C4 was launched in 1983, it was cutting edge for its time, with digital instrumentation, aluminum wheels, aluminum brake calipers, individual suspension though composite rear leaf springs called transverse fiberglass mono-leaf springs — this suspension system weighed one third of a pair of traditional coil springs. The rear bumper was now made of plastic instead of fiberglass and was also significantly lighter than its predecessor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels from a direct-injected 5.7-liter V8 via a four-speed automatic transmission. This engine has the designation L83 with a stated output of 305 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque.
This copy was sold new in Japan and came to Sweden in 2019, where it was of course both registered and inspected.
The latest inspection was carried out in May 2021.
The meter reading is just over 122,000 km, which the seller cannot guarantee.
Equipment & specification
Extra equipped with an aftermarket skirt package and 18-inch Leon Harderitt aluminum wheels, more modern stereo, 6-way ergonomic power seats, ACC, leather upholstery and a 3” sport exhaust.
The interior is a delicious red leather interior with sports seats and matching door panels and black instrument panel.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a digital instrumentation with a speedometer and a tachometer, along with readouts for oil temperature, coolant temperature, fuel level and fuel economy.
Condition
Exterior: The car is painted in a delicious red color but has several notes on, among other things, paint chips, cracks and various marks all around. Glass parts are in good condition and moldings/emblems are perceived to have wear. The Leon Hardiritt rims are in good condition and the tires have approx. 7mm tread depth. Interior. A nice interior with wear on the seats, carpet etc. The dashboard is in OK condition, as are the controls which have traces of use. Mechanical. The engine is a smallblock 350ci (5.7L) V8 with a 4-speed Hydra-matic automatic transmission. No leaks have been noted but is in need of service. The seller describes that the engine works but it runs a bit restlessly and is in need of an overhaul. Brakes and chassis in OK condition. The car goes straight and fine on the road and has great potential to become a fun bus. The car was inspected no later than May 2021.
