1960 Porsche 356
Basic Information and History
This stunning 1960 Porsche 356 1600S Reutter Coupé is a true piece of automotive history, representing the origins of what would eventually evolve into the legendary 911. Originally delivered on February 12, 1960, to Porsche Car Pacific in San Francisco, California, the car came equipped with the factory-supplied 1.6-liter 1600 Super engine, producing 75 HP. It was first delivered to its original owner, Robert J. Hill, in Whitehall, Montana, on May 6, 1960.
Presented in an 'Outlaw' style, this 356 features several tasteful, period-correct modifications, including:
Lightweight aluminum rims (original rims with hubcaps included)
Magnaflow sports exhaust (delivers a beautifully sporty sound)
Lowered bodywork
Momo wooden sports steering wheel (original steering wheel also included)
Headlight grilles
Additional spotlights
Removed bumper rosettes (provided separately)
All spare parts and original components listed above are supplied with the vehicle.
Condition
The car is in excellent condition, both inside and out. The body is in great shape, and the interior is also very well-preserved. The engine runs smoothly, offering a powerful performance on the road. The vehicle boasts a stunning color combination and has just undergone a full professional repaint in the original Signal Red (color code 601), a job that cost €16,000. This restoration is thoroughly documented, including the Porsche birth certificate (Geburtsurkunde) and the original Kardex. The car now looks better than new, even underneath.
Equipped with a fully rebuilt 1600 Super engine, the car delivers 75 hp from its 1582 cc, 4-cylinder engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It grips the road effortlessly and offers a unique driving experience, with a sporty exhaust that gives the engine a beautiful sound. While the engine no longer has matching numbers, there is still a crankcase part with the original number. However, due to a minor deviation, we cannot confirm with absolute certainty that this is the original cover.
This car would be perfect for classic tours or rallies. It needs nothing but a new owner to start enjoying it immediately. The vehicle comes directly from the U.S. and includes the original American registration certificate (US Title). All EU import taxes and duties have been paid, and the car can be registered with ease.
