Basic information and background

The Amazon estate wagon was a medium-sized car that Volvo produced from 1956 to 1970. The model went by the name 120 abroad when the name Amazon was taken by a German motorcycle manufacturer. Volvo was only allowed to use the name on the Swedish market but with the spelling Amazon.

When it came to safety, the Amazon was the first model that Volvo equipped as standard with front seat belts, and later models even got 3-point belts as standard. Volvo produced the wagon from 1962 to 1969. The total number of cars manufactured was 73,220 and 60% were exported.

This example was sold new in Sweden and has only had 2 actual users. 4 owners are registered with the Transport Board, but these have been within the same family. The current owner bought it from the estate of the first owner when the car only had  30,000 kilometers on the clock and drove the car himself to about 120,000 kilometers before it was retired and later restored. Today, the car has driven about 1250 kilometers after the renovation.
 
Equipment and Options
It comes with the original instruction book and the purchase agreement from 1964. Also included are headrests, aluminum fairings for the rims, and the original radio.
 
Condition
The seller states that the car is in very good condition, it has undergone a major renovation with new paint on the body in 2021 and an extensive engine renovation. The seller refers to the pictures.

The car was painted in 2021 as the paint was old and worn, there was no underlying rust but the body needed a refresh.

Service History
The entire car has recently been overhauled with a total renovation of the powertrain. Everything is new in the engine with i.a. original factory's new carburetor.
