1971 Triumph TR6
Basic information and history
USA-imported Triumph TR6 from 1971 which on Swedish soil has only had 3 users since 1990. The first owner, living in Knivsta, imported the car in 1990 and sold it to a man in Mölnbo in 1992. Current owner bought the car back in 2005 and has had it since then. The previous owner had ambitions for the car to be modified to a more race-inspired look, and therefore the chassis has received stiffer springs and dampers and a slightly tuned engine. However, current owners still experience good drivability and comfort in normal road driving. Today's odometer reads 40388km but cannot be guaranteed.
- US-imported Triumph TR6 from 1971
- Only three owners in Sweden
- Sportier chassis and slightly tuned engine
Equipped with a 2.5-liter straight six of approx. 105hp connected to a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and rear-wheel drive. The car has had a worse cam and triple Webers installed and therefore has more power than original. With a low driving position and a reasonably light car, driving is definitely inspiring!
Condition
The general condition of the body is described by the current owner as being in good working condition. The body is free of dents and door hinges. Rear fenders have been replaced and the car was fully painted in 1999. In 2003, the front fenders were replaced and then partially painted. Unfortunately, the color was not exact, but there is a shade difference. However, the car is free from rust, which is always a plus! Current owner describes that the condition of the paintwork is generally good for being 20 years old. There are minor slips and minor scratches and other wear and tear. The rims from Revolution Wheels, painted in the color of the car, have been mounted with spacers for a slightly wider wheelbase and have some paint chips. Pattern depth is measured at 6mm on all tires. The windows are in good condition and the windshield was replaced a few years ago.
The interior is described as being in good condition and the seats are free of damage. There is, however, some minor wear and tear. Door panels are in good condition. The Moto-Lita steering wheel as well. Instrument panel and wooden details in good condition. Buttons and controls in good condition with normal wear on some of them. All electronics in the passenger compartment work as intended.
Engine is described to be in good condition and was completely renovated and unleaded-converted in 2004. During the renovation, new cam, model Sprint 83 and triple Weber 40DCOE carburetors were installed. All this was carried out by Bennets Import in Lerum. The current owner has installed a switchless ignition system and adjusted the centrifugal regulator. Gearbox and drivetrain are described as being in good condition. These parts were also refurbished by Bennets Import in 2004. Today there is a small oil leak from the gearbox/overdrive, which is not entirely unusual on British cars. Brakes are described as being in good condition and the master brake cylinder was replaced in 2007. Mechanically, everything works as intended.
Feel free to look through all the photos of the car to form an idea of the condition. Questions are asked in the question field and answered by the owner himself.
Service history
Most of the service and renovations carried out have receipts and invoices on them, all the way back to 1992. The last inspection was done in 2015 and was unremarkable.
Summary
The current owner was brought as a mechanic at historic racing on Swedish tracks during the 70s and then became very fond of the TR6, above all for its very good-sounding and awesome engine sound. After many fun years with the car, it now needs to find a new enthusiastic owner as time is unfortunately not enough. Take the chance to bring home a highly entertaining British classic!
