Equipment and options

Pro-tourers are built to be the best of both worlds. Basically, American muscle car rebuilt with modern parts and new features where utility is at the centre, without compromising either style or performance.

The Chevelle has been built by David Gunnars, whose previous builds have won countless awards and have been seen almost everywhere. Gunnars builds his cars with the contradiction that the car should stand out, but at the same time it should not. One of his latest buildings is e a Chevrolet Corvair with an engine from the Audi RS6.

This Chevrolet Chevelle has received a complete overhaul and is today far superior to what left the factory. However, it should not be confused with a so-called trailer queen, as it is almost always has been driven to and from exhibitions and meetings. The car is built to be used despite its brutal beauty and impeccable finish. If you look through the car, it looks like new, but if you look at e.g. wheelhouses are there as traces of fun moments where tire smoke probably played a major role.

Since completion, the car has only driven approx. 5567km.

Condition

  • Big Block 467 cui
  • Megasquirt 3 V3.0X ECU
  • Ford 9-inch rear axle with differential lock
  • Adjustable RideTech chassis with RidePRO control
  • 19" Forgeline GA3 wheels
  • Pioneer stereo build
  • Wilwood brakes

Engine
The engine is built to last and includes a GM steel crank, H-profile rods, Mahle pistons with 12.5:1 compression, flow-tested oval-port heads, custom Crower camshaft, Crower lifters and rockers. On the intake side, we find, among other things, Hurricane intake with Edelbrock 1600cfm carburettor and fuel rail.

The fuel is pumped from a newly installed tank by a built-in electric fuel pump, ignited by LS Ignition coils and controlled by Megasquirt ECU. An electric water pump is also installed.

The exhaust gases flow through Sandersson shorty headers, 3" exhaust system with X-pipe and Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 silencer. The system is completed with two 3.5" tailpipes. The car has not been dyno'ed but is good for over 600hp and the sound is, to say the least, something out of the ordinary.

Gearbox
Shifting thru the gears are handled by Chevrolet's 4L80E 4-speed with lockup. Control system for the box is available, TCI computer controller with, among other things, adjustable switching point and lockup. The rear axle is a Ford 9" with Moser diff housing, carbon fiber and 3:55:1 in final gear. At 110km/h the car runs at approx. 1600rpm, which is beneficial on longer journeys.

Chassis
The chassis was thoroughly inspected during construction and the body has been lifted, sanded down and repainted. Power steering is installed, CCP 500 Series with 10:1 in ratio. The chassis is fully adjustable via RideTech RidePro control. Air controlled coilovers with adjustable FOX springs, adjustable StrongArms support arms at both ends and anti-roll bars all around from Musclebar and spindles from RideTech.

Breaks
Braking takes place without the jittery elements that muscle cars are otherwise known for. Hydraulic CCP servo connected to Wilwood master cylinder. Up front, Wilwood 6-piston calipers are installed together with 358mm disc brakes. At the rear, Wilwood 4-piston calipers are installed along with 333mm discs. All this is hidden behind Forgeline GA3 wheels in sizes 9x19 and 11x19. The tire size is 245/40-19 and 275/40-19 respectively.

Body
Painted in GM's fantastic Verde Green Iridium and with stylish details such as an SS hood, aluminium spoiler in the front from SpoilersByRandy and a custom spoiler on the tailgate, something the builder often finishes his builds with. Bumpers are re-chromed and rear bumpers have been modified to fit the 3.5" endings.

Interior
The interior of the car has been modernized without taking too big a step away from the feeling of the 60s. Details and dashboard, for example, are painted in the car's original colour. The Gold Pearl interior is completely gone through and newly installed. In order get a bit of that hugging-feeling, a slightly deeper sofa has been chosen in front of the original seat bench. The centre console is custom and the instrumentation has been replaced with digital units from Dakota that display all relevant information during the rides. All this is installed behind a more modern steering wheel.

Condition
The car is in a consistently great condition, even though it has been driven on some roads in our long country. The paintwork is fine and there are no remarks on chrome, glass parts, lighting, emblems or other details. The little wear and tear we have managed to find on the car is, among other things, small marks in the door frames, patina on the front emblem and small paint damage at the back of one of the taillights.

Summary

A beautifully balanced pro touring beast that can both be hidden away in a parking lot or seen as a centre piece at the meets! Perfect choice for those who want something truly unique and well built.
