Basic Information & Background

The Chevrolet Camaro is without a doubt one of the most sought after and popular muscle cars ever, and here is another example that is something out of the ordinary! 1968 was the second year of the model and received some minor updates for the year. It was still offered with both V8 and V6 engines and of course the Coupé and Cabriolet. However, this Coupé has been updated to a completely different level with a lot of old-school thinking about the mechanics and design. Imported to Sweden already in 2004 with few owners and good history! Feel free to see the pictures of the incredibly solid documentation that is available.

Equipment

Painted  2021 in Lamborghini's Arancio Borealis multi-layer color with a newly renovated black interior. A modern stereo is fitted together with gauges from Autometer. The heart of the car is a brand new 383ci Chevrolet small block with only 1000 km driven. The power rating is closer to 600hp in the engine and it is paired with a brand new 700R4 automatic transmission with B&M shifter. A powerful and very reliable V8 engine that sounds absolutely fantastic! Full spec on engine can be found in photo albums under documentation.

Condition

Exterior: Renovated 2021 with new paint wet sanded between the layers. All chrome removed or painted, Chevrolet "Bowtie" logo recessed in the tailgate in sheet metal, many new original parts except for individual pieces that could not be bought new. Sheet metal work done by Bernt Karlsson. Stainless in body and under carriage (see photos!). The GC Performance rims are also in very good condition.

Interior. Really nice renovated interior in black with bucket seats, new floor mat, headliner and a really nice three-spoke sports steering wheel. The autometer gauges give a slightly more modern and sportier feeling and fit very well as a whole with the remaining interior.

Mechanically. Barely run in 383 Chevrolet SB with new 700R4 automatic transmission. There are no remarks or known faults on the driveline.

Service history

Service book is not available around the new driveline but is otherwise very well documented with receipts and history. The car has been inspected and is now tax and inspection free.

Summary

A dream combination of 60s design with a reasonably "hard" driveline that fits both comfortable cruises, long burnouts or a couple of laps on the strip. A really well-built car with only the best parts and who just longs to get out on the roads. An opportunity to acquire a completed, multi-year project that would cost a lot more today to build yourself!
