1962 Cadillac Coupé De Ville
Basic information and history
The first Cadillac Coupe De Ville was shown in 1949 during General Motors' Motorama era. The car was based on a Cadillac Sixty's chassis with various updates and modifications. The car was one of the first coupés in the world to lack door pillars. As always with General Motors, Cadillac was the most well-equipped of the group, compared to e.g. Buick and Oldsmobile. De Ville was built right up until 2005 and went through 8 generations.
This 1962 Cadillac Coupe De Ville arrived in Sweden in 2005 from the States. On home soil, according to the current owner, the car has only had one owner in Texas. The car must have been used for five years and then put away. The current owner is the second owner in Sweden. According to the trip meter, the car has traveled approx. 99850 km, but unfortunately cannot be guaranteed. The car comes in an unrestored good condition so the mileage may very well be correct.
This Cadillac comes with a 6.4-liter V8 of approx. 330hp/580nm connected to a four-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Equipment and options
Like all Cadillacs, this one is well equipped. It comes with, among other things, electric lifts, electric sofa, automatic dimmer for the high beams and also A/C.
Condition
The car comes with original paint and in an unrestored, fine condition. However, there is wear from the years. The current owner informs that there are, among other things, some small marks on the doors, surface rust on the rear fender and the right front fender. Some simpler renovation has been carried out on the right rear on a previous occasion. Glass parts are described as being in good condition, and despite the above-mentioned remarks, the paintwork has held up well. The original rims come in a nice condition and without damage. A molding at the right rear is not mounted. The list is, however, available and of course included.
The interior of the car is in good condition. Upholstery for the sofa has done well, except for discoloration on the armrest. The steering wheel has some cracks in it, but nothing that interferes with the function. Instrument panel is fine apart from a few marks and dirt. The inner roof is in good condition and sits where it should. A small stereo box is built under the panel.
Mechanically, the car is described as being in good condition. The engine is in excellent condition and the gearbox has new gaskets. Brakes are described as being in good condition. Electrically, everything works as it should.
Please look through our photos of the vehicle to form an idea of the condition. If you have any questions, these can most easily be asked directly in the comment section.
Summary
An unrestored but well-maintained and well-equipped classic Cadillac from the 60s. The current owner unfortunately has to get rid of the car as time is not enough and the garage no longer exists. Take the chance to acquire a nice Cadillac!
