1993 Porsche 928 GTS with only approximately 110,000 km on the odometer

This elegant Porsche 928 GTS was first registered in Dortmund on October 5, 1993. It was imported to Sweden on June 8, 1998, and has since had six owners, including the current owner.

The car’s low mileage can be explained by it being off the road for an extended period, from November 28, 2007, to August 25, 2015, at which time the odometer read 107,043 km. The current owner acquired the car in 2016 and began a comprehensive overhaul of the vehicle in 2017, which was completed in 2020. Since then, the car has been driven only 3,640 km, exclusively during the summer months.

Equipment and Features

The interior is dressed in exclusive Marin Blue SX leather, perfectly complementing the car's sporty elegance. The original Blaupunkt radio remains in place, and the car is also equipped with a sunroof and a recently renovated air conditioning system. All tools are present, contributing to the car’s originality.

A unique feature is a button located beside the handbrake, which, when activated, remaps the engine control to provide an extra kickdown boost. This function is an unusual and exciting detail that we haven’t seen on any other Porsche 928.

Condition

The condition of this Porsche 928 GTS is nothing short of incredible. The body is in very good condition with no dents, scratches or door cracks. During the body renovation, all panels, doors and glass were dismantled. Everything was ground down to bare metal to check for any previous repairs. This led to a rear wing being replaced with a new original part, as a previous repair was not up to standard. Otherwise, the car has been undamaged.

The work also included a professional full paint job in the original dark blue metallic colour. New mouldings, windscreen and roof antenna have been fitted. Both the front and rear plastic bumpers were replaced with new original parts, as the old ones had lost their shape over the years and did not match the rest of the body finish. The car has recently received a paint seal and new tyres have been fitted.

The interior is in top condition and completely original, including the classic Blaupunkt radio.

The engine, gearbox and drivetrain have been serviced and work flawlessly. The electrical system has also been completely overhauled and everything works perfectly. The chassis has been overhauled with renovated front brakes and new discs. Brake pads have been replaced all around for optimal performance. New shock absorbers, springs and new tires complemented by control of all wheel angles also contribute to the fine driving experience that a really good 928 should give its driver.

Service History

The most recent service was carried out by Mtech in 2016 with an odometer reading of 105,430 km. Since then, the car has only been driven approximately 4,500 km. There is no time interval for replacing the timing belt, but Mtech recommends that it be done in 2026. However, this only applies to the timing belt. Rollers and water pump do not wear out over time. The renovation carried out in 2017 - 2020 focused mainly on the body, but also included work on the engine, gearbox, mechanics and electronics. A detailed list of work carried out is available.

The service book is filled in with previous services and repairs, and all receipts are preserved. Due to the fact that the car was parked for almost ten years and then used sparingly, the number of services is fewer than is usually expected in relation to the age of the car.

The last approved inspection was carried out on August 29, 2024 with an odometer reading of 110,855 km.

Attached you will find Mtech's detailed list of everything that was done to the car during the renovation. As can be seen, the car has only been driven about 3000km since 2015, and before that it was decommissioned from 2007. This explains the low mileage.

The reason for the renovation, even though the car was already in good condition, was the current owner's desire to get it in absolutely perfect condition - something that is very unusual for a Porsche 928.

Summary

The Porsche 928 is a true gentleman’s car with a unique design that no other manufacturer has managed to replicate. When Porsche’s board decided to discontinue the 928 model, they gave the engineers one final challenge: to go "all in" on a final version where everything would be of the absolute highest quality. The result was the GTS model. With a 5.4-liter V8 producing 345 hp/500 Nm and typically equipped with an automatic transmission, the car is both a comfortable and entertaining GT vehicle.

This GTS is elegantly dark blue with a matching dark blue interior. The current owner purchased the car because of his love for its design and the unique feeling it provides. Mechanically, the car was already in good condition at the time of purchase, as Mtech had owned it before the current owner. However, the paint was in poor condition, which led to the decision to have Mtech carry out a complete body restoration.

As is often the case with such projects, the current owner made ongoing decisions regarding additional improvements to make the car as beautiful as it deserves to be. Brakes, protective plates, springs, shock absorbers, inner wheel arches, AC repair, battery, and tires are just some of the things that have been upgraded. The Porsche 928 is today a collector's car that increases in value every year. The model lived for a long time in the shadow of the 911, but in recent years the model has gained the iconic status it deserves and this is also reflected in the price trend. However, there are, and have long been, plenty of cheap Porsche 928s on the market, which has attracted many to own one of the 80s supercars for an affordable price. But it is a technically advanced car that requires its maintenance and therefore many of these cheap cars are in poor condition. And it is not cheap to renovate a Porsche 928. It is therefore often a better deal to buy a well-maintained or renovated car despite a higher price. The most desirable model of the 928 series is considered to be the GTS, which came out in 1992 and was discontinued in 1995 after only 2,829 cars were produced, of which 686 were produced in 1993. A total of 61,183 Porsche 928s were produced from 1977 to 1995.
