Basic Information and History

1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 1800 (1.8 8V)

This car has had four owners in Sweden since it was re-registered in the country. Originally sold new in Sweden in 1977 with the registration number BTF 535, it was exported to Norway sometime after 2002, when it was last inspected in Sweden. In 2011, it was reintroduced into the Swedish registry. The number of owners in Sweden prior to export, as well as in Norway, is unknown.

The Alfa Romeo Alfetta is a fantastic model first introduced in 1972, named after the Grand Prix racing car Alfa Romeo 159, popularly known as "Alfetta" – or "Little Alfa" in Swedish. The model was produced as both a coupé (GT/GTV) and a sedan (Berlina), which this particular example is.

The Alfetta quickly became known for its driving pleasure thanks to its rev-happy and lively Twin Cam engine and its advanced transaxle setup, where the gearbox is located in the rear to provide better weight distribution. However, like many cars from the 1970s, it was prone to rust, which has caused many examples to disappear over time.

This specific car has held up relatively well, although some work is required to make it entirely rust-free. For anyone who appreciates the Alfetta’s unique design and driving joy, this is an excellent investment – a model likely to increase in value in the future.

Condition

The body is described by the seller as being in usable condition. Known rust is present in the spare wheel well in the trunk, on the lower part of the right rear door, and on the lower section of the rear fender on the right side. Minor scratches and dents are present. The paint is in acceptable condition considering the car's age. The windows are in okay condition, but the window mechanism on the front right door needs attention. Chrome details, trims, and light lenses are in usable condition according to the seller.

The aluminum wheels are also in usable but not pristine condition. The tires have a remaining tread depth of 4–5 mm. The interior is in okay condition with normal wear. The dashboard has minor damage – refer to the pictures for a more detailed assessment. The headliner is in okay condition.

The engine is described as being in okay condition; it starts and runs well. The gearbox and drivetrain are assessed as being in usable condition according to the seller.

Service History

There is extensive documentation regarding the car’s inspections in Sweden. The latest workshop invoice is from January 2024, when the car underwent a service that included replacing the spark plugs, installing a new battery, and other measures. Total cost: 13,334 SEK. Older service records are partially available through invoices.

The most recent inspection was carried out on March 4, 2024, and earlier inspection reports are preserved from the mid-1990s until its export, as well as from 2011 onwards.
