A true unique collectors Item - a fully original 1980 SAAB 99 turbo in a fantastic condition!

Assembled in Valmet /Finland
First registered in Sweden 1981-02-26 (returned to Sweden from retail dealer in Europe)
In the 5-speed manual configuration, the majority were exported throughout in Europe 1980. As a forerunner, the 99 Turbo model was superseded by the new SAAB 900 in 1979 and customers were more in pursuit for the newer car, and approx 2-300 cars of this model went back to Sweden during the year of 1981.
Features for this last production year of the 99turbo model were:
- First year for the Saab´s 5-speed gearbox (G45701)
- Front/corner reverse-lights (only on the 5-speed versions)
- Speedometer range to 240km/hour - this is the only year
- Saab 99 had this feature, and only in the turbo versions.
- The new seats with adjustable headrests wich followed on the 900 up to the last year 1994.
- Green-tinted windows all around
- Bilstein shocks & harder springs, same as the EMS models.
The car has been in storage since July 1997 and therefore a thorough overhaul has been done in periods from 2012 to present day.
Overhaul includes:
- Engine: all gaskets changed, new piston rings/water pump/timing chain & tensioner
- New NOS Bosch generator/starter/distributor
- New original wastegate (1st generation boost-adjustable)
- Transmission: Brand new NOS gearbox G45705 (updated from earlier G47501-03 versions) current total control/test mileage: 12km
- New fuel-lines/hoses throughout the whole system such: engine bay (all K-jetronic lines) - body lines & tank-connectors.
- Complete new Bosch/K-jetronic system fitted in May 2022:
Control pressure valve: 0 438 140 070
Mass meter head: 0 438 100 057
Airvalve: 0 280 140 190
Fuel injectors: 0 437 502 004
- New original two-row radiator with all cooling-hoses & expansion tank
- New engine oil-cooler & hoses
- Calipers front & back incl. all break hoses.
- Complete new exhaust system
- Major suspension update with new bushings upper & lower control-arms.
- New clutch with new master/slave cylinders
- Fully refurbished headliner
- New accessories voltage & temp VDO gauges placed in the centre console (Night-light applied but not wired)
(Note: NOS = New Old Stock)
- Body & interior still in original condition (except the new headliner)
- A partial re-spray from the waist down L + R side was performed in the early 90's.
- Bonnet/roof/trunk, upper sides and engine bay still have the original paint from 1980.
VIN number: 998060***** (complete VIN available to registered bidders)
Statistics from the Swedish road-registry /Transportstyrelsen) shows only 23 remaining Carmine red metallic 99 Turbos from 1980. Of those, only 5 cars in use. This is a unique opportunity to buy one of Swedens, if not the worlds most unique and low milage 99 Turbo in this condition! The car will be featured in a future publication here in Sweden, and the unanimous opinion of the car was that is no doubt the best 99 Turbo on the market today.
