Basic Information & Background

Mercury Monterey Custom is an american full-size 4-door sedan measuring 5.45m and 2m wide with plenty of space for the whole family!

Registered with 6-seats including driver provides great space and the 390ci (6.3L) Big Block V8 engine with 254hp / 513nm runs smoothly and nicely in combination with the 3-speed Cruisematic automatic transmission.

The model shares a lot of technology with the Ford Galaxie and was Mercury's flagship model before a completely new model came in 1965.

This car was imported from the USA in 2015 and has spent its Swedish life in northern Sweden.

The car is also now both inspection and tax-exempt.

Equipment

The car is standard equipped with very nice fabric / vinyl upholstery that goes in blue throughout the interior and Keystone Classic rims that give a little attitude. Original wheels with hubcaps are of course also included. A cool option is the openable rear window which is electrically controlled and can be lowered down for the best driving experience!

Condition

Exterior: Original blue paint with "patina", body is in good shape, but due to the car's age and unrenovated condition the paint is flat in places (mostly on the left rear wing). Although it is well presented for an original car! The floor has been replaced with new sheet metal and rust protection has been applied according to all the rules of art. The Keystone Classic wheels received a net set of new tires recently and all 4 original rims are included with the purchase.

Interior. Very fresh unrenovated interior in blue vinyl / fabric with blue panels all around. All buttons and controls also work including the heater core.

Mechanically. The car runs very nice and smooth on the road, just as the model is recognized for! The gearbox shifts flawlessly through the 3-speed gears and can really withstand many cruising miles. The car has been mechanically maintained over the years where parts have been replaced when needed. There are no points on the car that need to be repaired to be able to just turn the key and drive.

Service history:

Newly serviced 23/5/2022. Service book is not available but has been well maintained over the years. Tax and inspection exempt. Both keys exist, mileage is believed to be around 150,000km however due to the odometer being rolled over that cannot be confirmed.

Summary:

A true classic and comfortable cruising car for the whole family! An affordable alternative compared to many similar competitors and perfect for those who just want to go out and cruise or simply looking for a good project to start a minor renovation on!
